July 14-July 17
Charlie's Centennial : Centenaire de Charlie
The summer of 2011 will see a major Celebration in Bathurst and Belledune with the 100th anniversary of the birth of Charlie Chamberlain, one of Bathurst most famous sons. Referred to as "Charlie's Centennial : Centenaire de Charlie" the four day event will take place from July 14th to July 17th 2011.

July 14th 2011 is Charlie’s actual Birthday date

July 15th at City Hall Gym—Families only Meet & Greet at 7pm

July 16th at the Waterfront Promenade – Music all day to the evening

July 17th at the Graveside in Belledune --special service at 2pm followed by a picnic and music by the group “ Country Heart”

July 14th to 16th the Old Post Office in Bathurst will be open with three large screens offering some of the original TV Programs

BHS Student Lori Noel is an outstanding artist and will have a show of her own here starting May 25th to June 25th 2011.

Wood Carving Exhibit "The Tumultuous Nepisiguit"
Gallery 360 at the Bathurst Museum presents a major exhibition of Wood Carvings with the Theme" The Tumultuous Nepisiguit". This work is the accomplishment of a collection of wood carvers under the direction of Master Carver Yvon Boudreau of Beresford. The theme covers the entire Chaleur Region and the Acadian Peninsula and recognizes the significance of the Great Nepisiguit River to the social and economic growth of the region over many years. At present over 60 carvings hang in the Gallery along with one masterful Mosaic which hangs in the Museum and eventually it will be moved to a place of permanence in the K.C. Irving Centre. Talk on Forests by Rod O'Connell
On the evening of the 21st Rod O'Connell will be speaking about our woodlands and forests and about our part in the Canada Trails. There will be a slide show and refreshments will be available.

The Home School Group will hold their Heritage Week Class at the Museum on the afternoon of the 15th, celebrating the theme for this year-- "Our Forests - Our People" They will be here from 1pm and you are welcome to come and enjoy their presentation.

CTV Television will be airing a segment at 5 pm featuring Charlie Chamberlain and the artifacts in the collection related to his history and life.

The Annual Home Tour by the Hospital Foundation will serve Tea and Sweets at the Museum in the Colin Taylor Room on the 3rd and 4th of December, 2010.

The New Brunswick Provincial Capital Commission and the City of Bathurst cordially invite you to attend the unveiling of the biographical panel honouring the legacy of Premier Pierre Jean Veniot, (1923 - 1925) as part of the Promenade of Premier's Project at 11:00 am, Monday 29 November 2010, at the Nepisiguit Centennial Cultural Centre/Museum, 360 Douglas Ave., Bathurst, NB.

November 27, 2010 Pot Luck Supper "Sisterhood of Widows"

The "First Widow's Pot Luck Supper" will be held in the Colin Taylor Room on the 27th of November at 5:30 pm with special Guest speaker "Mary Lee Francis", author of "The Sisterhood of Widows".

Celebrate the Irish July/August Issue of Bread' n' Molases Available at the Museum

The Magazine Bread’n’Molasses printed and published in the Miramichi featuring local artists, authors and poets as well as photos of New Brunswick is now available for sale at the Bathurst Heritage Museum at 360 Douglas Ave. in Bathurst, NB. The March / April and the May / June issues are in stock now. Come in or call 506-546-9449. Watch for the July/August issue which will celebrate the Irish.

June - September Museum at the Market

The Bathurst Heritage Museum will have its annual kiosk at the Bathurst City Market every Saturday morning from June 24th to September 17th, 2010. Gift cards, hasti-notes with local scenes, historic books and heritage pins may be purchased. Wonderful albums to see and discuss.

August 1 to September 7 Paintings by Cynthia Decoste

The extraordinary artistic works of Cynthia DeCoste will again be on exhibit and for sale from August 1st to September 3rd, 2010 in Gallery 360 at the Bathurst Heritage Museum, 360 Douglas Avenue. During this time the Gallery will be open seven days a week and by appointment, 506-546-9449. Cynthia was chosen Emerging Artist of the Year for 2009.

Coming to the Bathurst Heritage Museum on September 15th “The Lamp and the Union: Nursing in Twentieth Century New Brunswick”. The exhibition presents a sampling of the Artefacts from the New Brunswick Nursing History Collection. Artefacts include caps, pins, student blazers, union pins, photos and histories. There will be an official opening of the exhibit on Sunday the 19th of September, 2010.

June 4 - 20, Art by Bathurst High School Seniors Mirae Lee and Stephanie Jennings

The Bathurst Heritage Museum is proud to present the paintings of Bathurst High School seniors, Mirae Lee and Stephanie Jennings in Gallery 360. The paintings will be on exhibit from June 1st to June 20th, with an official opening on June 4th at 6pm. Paintings will also be available for sale at a price decided by the artist. The Gallery is open during Museum hours (noon to 4pm) but may be opened by special appointment at any time – call 546-9449.

The Bathurst Heritage Museum presents the Paintings of the late James Pitre and others, including a few by Jessica Ryan, as well as a display of some very old pictures and unusual artefacts in Gallery 360 until the 25th of May during Museum hours – Noon to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Book Launch "Crimes and Punishments"

The Bathurst Heritage Museum and Archives of the Cultural Centre are proud to announce the launching of another interesting book by Florence Gray Godin, titled “Crimes and Punishments in North East New Brunswick and Gloucester County”. The book is available for sale at the Museum and at the Bathurst Book Gallery.

The Bathurst Heritage 'Gallery 360' will hold a major exhibition of the Art Work of Cynthia DeCoste of Bathurst, NB. Cynthia has been selected as one of New Brunswick's Emerging Artists and was recently honoured on New Brunswick Day in Bathurst. Mrs. DeCoste is an Art Instructor at Bathurst High School. An opening Reception will be held on Friday September 5th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the Bathurst Heritage Museum 360 Douglas Ave., Bathurst NB.

Lecture in the Multipurpose Room: Do You Know Nicolas Denys?
Speakers are Rod and Rolande O'Connell of Bathurst, NB. The presentations will be in English and French as the audience requests. Admission is free but good will donations are always accepted.

Heritage Week 2008: The official opening of Heritage Week takes place at 2 pm on February 11 at the Beaverbrook Kinsmen Center at 100 Newcastle Blvd. in Miramichi. Throughout the week visitors to our museum can hear and see musicals from years ago and on the 18th, which is National Heritage Day, music will be played all day in memory and honor of the late Mrs Beth Lord, Music Teacher.

February 11, 2008: Rogers Cable will be filming and interview members about Heritage Week and why it is important. Members are invited to come and be part of this.

February 12, 2008: 10:30 am there will be 38 students from the Assumption Academy in East visiting the Museum.

February 14, 2008: From 2 to 4pm the Red Hatters will be serving refreshments( tea and coffee etc) in the Museum. At the same time the Tiffany Book Club will hold their meeting and enjoy the refreshments.

February 15, 2008: " Friends in Song" with Tom Kyte will entertain from 7pm to Celebrate National Flag Day and sing appropriate music for Canada and the Music of our people. Everyone is invited and members can help as we serve a fruit punch.

Boutique

The Boutique at the Heritage Museum features works by Sonia Turner (Jewelry), books by the Late Allie MacArthy, interesting driftwood gifts, models of Sir John A. MacDonald and many more heritage articles. The Boutique is open 6 days a week and 3 evenings

Fall 2007

In October we will recieve the Art works of the NB Craft Guild. We are negotiating at present and looking forward to recieving their works.

Summer 2007

Gloria Richard Exhibit: The Museum has a 10 panel exhibition which tells the life story of famous Opera Singer Gloria Richard of Baie Ste. Anne, who won the Lieutenant Governor's Award for Music and Art for 2006. An initiative of the NBArts Board. For further information on Gloria Richard, click here.

Palmer Johnson Building Art Competition: Artists are invited to paint the "Palmer- Johnson" building - more popularly known as "The Wild Goose". One of the Johnson descendants, Bob Johnson, is offering three prizes with judging taking place in the late summer. Deadline for paintings to be submitted to the Gallery 360 is July 5th 2007. Sketches and photos of the building are available to the participants and forms for them to sign are also available.

Summer Students: We have three students to recieve our visitors and the "Cultural Stroll" instituted last year will again be in place. The Walking Tour has been translated and we are happy to say we will conduct tours again this summer.

Movies in the Rose Garden: The Outdoor Rose Garden Movies will again be seen this summer and one short special trailor will be on the " Anthony Flower Collection" As usual treats will be sold during the Movie.

Farmer's Market: The table at the Market will be set up and running by June 23rd every Saturday morning.

Holy Family Cemetery: It is planned to place a directional Heritge Plaque at the Holy Family Cemetery in honor of the ancestors buried there since 1793. The Plaque will be in French and English and point the way to the Cemetery.

Fundraisers:

Tickets on saleTickets on a very large colorful Afghan are on sale now and will be all summer to raise the funds for the plaque.

As another fund raiser the Commission has secured two tickets to the "Cirque du Soleil" in Saint John on the 1st of September. Along with the Cirque tickets is a $50.00 gift certificate for gas courtesy of Maurice's Gas Bar in east Bathurst.

Gallery 360 Presents: The Purple Violets in RED HATs will set up and display a major collection of Cookbooks, Cups & Saucers and unique aprons in Gallery 360 at the Bathurst Heritage Museum - 360 Douglas Ave. beginning January 8, 2007.The display will be open during Museum hours Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 4 pm. There is no entry fee but donations are gratefully accepted.

Gallery 360 Presents: "When Dreaming I am most awake : The Work of Paul Miller".

Paul Miller Paul was born and brought up in Bathurst and he graduated from Bathurst High 20 years ago. He has continued his art and has been a resident of Sydney, Australia for these past 20 years. There are recent paintings on exhibit as well as several of his early works (circa 1970's and 80's). The museum and Gallery 360 are open on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am to 4pm and at anytime by calling 506-546-9449.

Christmas, 2005 - Galerie 360 Gallery will feature New Brunswick Young Art 2005 Jeunesse Art . This exhibition is the first exhibition of its kind organized by the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. It enables all provincial school districts to acknowledge and promote their young artists, and it emphasizes the importance of art education in the curriculum. The youngest New Brunswick artists (up to age 19) will see their art displayed in a professional manner in the Gallery, and as the exhibition travels, they will share their artistic accomplishments with children and adults throughout the province. A selection committee chose the artworks to be displayed in the Gallery, while the rest of the submissions will be viewed on the Gallery website, www.beaverbrookartgallery.org/kidsart/

October, 2005 - The Bathurst Heritage Commission and the Irish Society of Bathurst will sponsor “ The Magic of Ireland ” a dance and musical show at the Gwendolyn Kent Theater in Bathurst High School. August 1, 2005 - A lucky couple has won a one week stay at Carey's Beach Chalet in Janeville. 160 tickets were sold and the draw was held on August 1, New Brunswick Day. Aussis and Kiwis is the theme of the May 1, 2005 Fundraising dinner

May 1, 2005 - Fundraising Dinners: for May the Theme is "Aussies and Kiwis" featuring an Australian menu with Kiwis from New Zealand. Dinner will be held at the Nepisiguit Cultural Centre at 5:30 pm at a cost of $10.00 per person. Look forward to the June dinner when Lobster will be served! Date and price to be announced.

April 18, 2005 - The President of the Bathurst Heritage Trust Commission Jessica Ryan will give a presentation to the Bathurst City Council on April 18th. The topic will be an update of the Cultural Center and how the partners are coping-eg. the Genealogy/Archives  and the Multicultural Association of the Chaleur Region within the Center. There is also need to inform the public about the needs of the building itself and the need to enlarge the Nepisiguit Cultural Centre Building Committee with knowledgable persons in the management of such a building and the importance of fund raising in the scheme of things, and how to go about it. This will be televised over Rogers Cable on the same evening.

Great Maritime Achievers by George MacBeath

March 15, 2005 - The Bathurst Heritage Trust Commission is proud to present Great Maritime Achievers, a Travelling Exhibition created by Science East which will travel to museums around the Maritime Provinces and which will be in the Nepisiguit Centennial Museum / Cultural Centre  360 Douglas Ave. in Bathurst, during the months of April and May with launching to take place on April 3, 2005 at 7 pm in the Museum.

Fifteen great Maritime Achievers in Science and Technology were selected to be featured in individual displays with hands on exhibits. The exhibitions major sponsor was Heritage Canada's Museum Assistance Program, the Culture and Sport Secretariat, Heritage Branch Province of New Brunswick, The University of New Brunswick and the Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientist of New Brunswick.The Museum is opened daily from noon to 5pm and at other times by appointment (call 506-546-9449).

March 14, 2005 - The Nepisiguit Centennial Museum / Cultural Centre have set down tentative plans for the center for 2005. Fundraising is always foremost in the minds of planners but fun and raising public awareness is equally important.

Lobster dinners

Monthly suppers for 50 guests are planned with a theme which will celebrate our many cultures and recipes from long ago. e.g. Thistles and Shamrocks, Asian Allure, East coast Lobster supper, Quebec  supper, Chicken Bouillon, etc. Watch the Web for dates and menus.

Walking Tours have been a major success each summer. They will continue in 2005 beginning July 1st . This year we will offer a short walk and a longer walk as folks do tire in the hot sun. Copies of the tour and historic notes will be given to participants.

During Hospitality Days a Heritage Wagon Tour will be conducted to view the historic places with historic plaques in place.

Summer students are expected to be in place for 10 to 15 weeks  from May to September.. The students are bilingual and knowledgeable of the Heritage  and history of the Chaleur Region.

The Museum and Archives will be open from May to September seven days a week and evening hours can be arranged by calling 546-9449. September hours will be daily Momday to Friday.

The Museum and Archives will have information booths at the City Market and at the Farmers Market  every Saturday morning from 9am to 1pm from May to October.

The  Nepisiguit Cultural Centre will cater to reunions of school groups or family reunions or any groups wishing to visit and have refreshments. Call 506-546-9449.

Strawberry Social

A Strawberry Social will be held at the Museum during Strawberry season. Watch the Web and for posters downtown.

An English Afternoon Tea will be held in early August--Tea and small sandwiches, scones, shortbread and jelly will be served in the Garden of the Cultural Center. Tentative date is August 17th, at 2 pm.

The Boutique at the Center offers Bathurst souvenir, pins, books hasty notes and wonderful photos of local scenes. The Boutique is open daily.
 
New Brunswick's only Science Center presents a Science and Technology exhibit whereby over 30 Maritimers  are portrayed with their accomplishments. These persons are considered to be outstanding achievers  in the fields of Science And Technology. Video and audio clips accompany many of the exhibits. All graphic boards and labels in the exhibit are bilingual. The exhibition will open April 1 2005 and remain in the Cultural Centre in Bathurst ( 360 Douglas Ave. ) until May 29th, 2005.
